Blogmas Day 2!
Black Friday was spent Christmas gift shopping – chasing the best deals on Black Friday online. Surprisingly many of them have already arrived! Today was the day for “ticking and bopping” – confirming and noting all the loot.
I have my yearly routine…
First I ask nicely, then I plead, then I guilt all my family members for their Christmas lists. This means ALL family members, old and young. With gifts being expensive and space an issue, I like to be sure to gift things that each person truly wants and has use for. Sometimes it’s just fun little things they would never buy for themselves.
(The List thing is a throwback to my childhood when we waited so impatiently for the arrival of the Sears Christmas Catalogue. I remember going through it page by page, from cover to cover. A List was made of each item, page, and price of the gifts to ask Santa for. It wasn’t a long list, or an expensive list, just a few items I coveted.)
After consulting each List, I hit the keyboard and Black Friday shopping begins.
Each time I hit “checkout”, I print the order confirmation. Order confirmations get filed alphabetically.
As each order arrives, it get’s unpacked and the order confirmations are marked as received.
I keep a llittle notebook that has each persons name where I list each gift that I have purchased for that person.
This routine lets me see what I have bought off of each List (and alternatives to what can be bought in case things aren’t available). It let’s me keep track of what has arrived and what is still outstanding. And the little notebook lets me see at a glance what has been purchased for each person and is kept in my purse when shopping.
I know there are cool apps and I’m sure there are easier ways, but I’m not cool and this has always worked for me so I just keep with it.
Til tomorrow,
EO
