Weight and Wait
What a year week it has been! No sooner had I written my first post Eldest wound up in the hospital!
I had equipped the house with all of the tools required to have a good start to my weight loss journey…all the right foods, recipes printed and ready to try and most importantly my mind set was strong and the BAM I got the call.
Eldest had been admitted to the hospital with only one functioning lung, caused by pneumonia. His right lung was completely full of fluid.
Thus began the wait. Wait to see if it responded to antibiotics, wait to see if it needed to be drained, wait to see if I needed to head over to his place (1 ½ hours away) to have the grands (I did), wait to see what type of drain would be needed (after draining a litre of fluid via needle they had to place a chest tube in his back), wait for a test of the fluid to confirm pneumonia and nothing more sinister, wait to see how long all of this would take. Ugh.
So Hubby flew home from our summer cottage and I drove to Eldest’s place and thus began operation Nana and Poppa. I thought I got tired and winded making a bed…boy those grands can go! I took along all of my “good” food and as the grands are vegan I figured keeping to my weight loss routine would be a piece of vegan “cake”…wrong! Those kiddos at 6 and 5 eat all day long, I mean I didn’t even get finished chopping one fruit/veggie and they are moving on to the next one! There was no time to make a meal, they eat non-stop! By the time I got to eat anything is fair game.
So, Beautiful K’s family have taken over the grands for a few days and I am back home recharging. But I determinedly stepped on those D%$* scales this morning and drumroll please…. LOST 1 POUND! I will take it and consider this first week a success. Under the circumstances and stress and waiting this fat, old Mom and Nana had this year week I am proud of myself.
Bring on week two!
***Eldest is still in hospital and contines to regain his breathing.
